Vernon Arthur Ammentorp, age 90, passed away at Parkside Manor on Saturday, January 30, 2021.
Born in Withee, Wisconsin on February 11, 1930, to the late Thorvald and Clara (Lang) Ammentorp. He was a graduate of Withee High School.
From 1948-1956, Vernon proudly served his country in the Navy as a Seabee 3rd Class.
On June 20, 1953, Vernon was united in marriage to his loving wife, Nancy Waldron in the Chapel at Great Lakes Naval Base.
Vernon worked for several years as a heavy equipment operator on the original construction of I-94. He went on to become a project engineer for AMC/Chrysler retiring after 30 years with the company.
Vernon was a member of the AMC Supervisors Club, Danish Brotherhood Lodge #14, Green Lake Rotary, and was a County Board Supervisor with Green Lake County. He loved woodworking and built very beautiful furniture for friends and relatives. He and Nancy enjoyed entertaining at their retirement home on Green Lake, along with boating and fishing. They took pride in the big, wonderful garden at their home in Green Lake. Vernon was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers.
Vernon will be dearly missed by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Terri (Jim) Morris of Tuscon, AZ; daughter, Tammi (Jeff) Daoust of Kenosha, WI; his grandchildren, Andrea (Eric) Schmidt, Megan (Brandon) Van Ark, Jessica Hansen; his great-grandchildren, Cayden, Holden, Saylor, Alex, Kaylie, Tyler; great-great grandchild, Lilyanna; his sisters, Ellen Zwiefelhofer, Phyllis Konieczny, Helen Hart; and his brother Fred Ammentrop.
In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Ammentorp, Richard Ammentorp and his sisters, Betty Pence, Dorothy Telin.
The family would like to thank Parkside Manor, 3 Palmer at Froedtert, Hospice Alliance and Dr. Shepler for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
