Sulin Baratta, age 76, passed away on Saturday October 22, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.
Born in Blue Island, IL to the late Earle and Lois (Jebens) Oakley on April 6, 1946. She met the love of her life, the late Valentino Baratta and was married on April 10, 1965, in Illinois.
Sulin was a crossword extraordinaire and the crocheter of all the blankets for her grandchildren. She loved going on her yearly Las Vegas trip with her partner in crime Mary Oakley. If she wasn’t with Mary, she was at the casino with Valentino sitting at the slot machines while he was at the blackjack table, usually losing all the money! Sulin was a fan of all those Hallmark Christmas movies.
She is survived by her children, Ken (Amy), Francesco “Frank” (Janet Mergl), and Michael Baratta; siblings, Evelyn Oakley, Donna Wrede, and Keith Oakley; sister-in-law Mary Oakley; grandchildren, Joseph (Amber), Alecsander, Riley, Isabella, Christopher (Julie), Tyler, Anthony, Angelina, and Micayla; great grandchildren, Haylee and Giovanni; and many other relatives and friends.
Sulin is preceded by her parents and beloved husband; siblings, Walter (Marilyn) Oakley, Leonard (Ruth) Oakley, and Marvin Oakley; and brother-in-law, Ron Wrede.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Service will take place on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
