01/14/1936Ruth A. Ward, 85, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at Kenosha Senior Living.
She was born on January 14, 1936 to the late Arthur and Theresa (Nelson) Hammarstrom in Worcester, MA. She was educated in the schools of Auburn, MA.
On May 7, 1955 she married Philip H. Ward Jr. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Auburn, MA. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2002.
Ruth worked as an insurance agent for Alpena Insurance Agency in Alpena, Michigan for many years. Ruth loved her job, her customers and co-workers who she considered friends. She enjoyed bringing treats in to work to share with everyone.
Ruth is a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alpena, MI and recently St. Anne’s Catholic Church Pleasant Prairie
Ruth enjoyed fundraising for the Relay for Life Cancer Fund, fundraising with her husband for the Lion’s Spaghetti Dinner, volunteering at the Alpena General Hospital Gift Shop, playing cards, Bunco and painting. Ruth was a great listener, very helpful and a kind-hearted woman. She had a great smile and an infectious laugh. She always spoke fondly of her family and friends as she had a great love of people.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Catherine (Lawrence) Ostrowski, her son Philip (Alice) (Rachel Beck) Ward, her grandchildren Ryan, Kate, Declan, Scarlett, Vivian and Victoria, her great grandson Aiden, her sister Evelyn Murphy and nephews James Ward, Gary Ward, Thomas Ward, Wayne Murphy and her niece Sharon Ward. She is also survived by a brother-in-law James (Janice) Ward.
She is preceded in death by a brother-in-Law H.W. “Murph” Murphy and nephew Ronald Ward.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth will be held on Thursday, June 24th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd. Pleasant Prairie). Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Memorials would be appreciated to the Relay for Life Cancer Fundraiser.
