Phyllis M. Fritchen, 56, loving mother of son Hunter, and adoring wife to husband Steve passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with breast cancer Friday morning, December 2, 2022, at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
She was born on December 27, 1965, to Daniel and Arlene (Dischler) Hensen in Marshall, WI. and grew up surrounded by her large family, she had four other siblings and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Phyllis was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to others. She graduated Marshall High School and met her husband Steve in 1984 while attending college at UW-Oshkosh where she was a student of Project Success and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Art. They fell in love instantly and knew they both shared a love for family, the outdoors, and the Green Bay Packers. On June 2, 1990, she married Steve in Columbus, WI.
Phyllis was very supportive of her husband’s career in retail, taking them throughout the United States including time in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Texas. During that time, she worked at various jobs, but her favorite was being a Visual Display Manager where she was able to fully utilize her creative talents.
As a mother, Phyllis was generous, loving, kind and doted on Hunter to spoil him as much as she could. She was so very proud of Hunter and everything he did, especially his success at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. In her free time, Phyllis loved to go on bike rides, hikes and walks by the beach as often as possible and enjoyed knitting, crafts and her favorite color was teal. Phyllis started each morning with a call to her mother, Arlene, which she so enjoyed. Phyllis believed it was very important to stay active and positive. She will be greatly missed by her family, who cherished her and by everyone who knew her.
Phyllis and family most recently attended Journey Church, Kenosha, WI. Faith in Christ has always been an important part of her life
Phyllis is survived by her husband Steve, her son Hunter, her mother Arlene Hensen and her siblings Howard Hensen, Penelope Hensen, Phoebe Vitharana, Priscilla (Carlos) Amador, and in-laws Jim & Doris Fritchen, Peggy (Fred) Goetsch, Stuart (Lucinda) Fritchen, Andy (Callie) Fritchen, and her sweet dog, Trooper.
She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Hensen.
“We know that we cannot have you, but we are happy knowing that the angels have finally got you back. Goodbye to an amazing woman, wife, and a beautiful mother.”
