(Mary) Virginia Littel (Mulhern, Desnoyers) affectionately known as Mom, Grams, Grandma, Ginny & Jin-Bug. 99 years old of Kenosha, Wi, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children in her home on June 26th, 2021.
Virginia was born in Mazomanie, WI on January 15, 1922 to the late Arthur and Esther (Wolf) Mulhern. She attended local schools graduating from Portage High School.
Virginia married William (Bill) Desnoyers on February 18, 1944, they were married for 4 years until Bill’s passing, together having three children. John, Don & Bill.
Virginia later married Lawrence (Larry) Littel on April 14, 1951, they were married for 40 years until Larry’s passing, together having six children.
Virginia raised nine children with patience, care and love. And of course, there was the special love that can only take place between a Mother and only daughter, Mary Ann.
Virginia had a very unique event happen to a “stay at home” mom. After raising all her children, by circumstance, she bought a simple bottle of cleaner, Basic H. From that simple act she went on to a successful career as a Shaklee distributor and Supervisor. In honor of her excellence in business, she received not one, but two cars in recognition of her accomplishments during her 10-year career. A very proud and exciting time in her life.
Virginia also had a great talent and love of baking; a cake or pie was usually on hand for a tasty treat. But holidays are where she really shined. Our 8ft long kitchen table would be full of her amazing baked goods. There was nothing she could not bake. Pastries, fruit breads, cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes and pies. When she could no longer bake, we would pull out her cook books and read through them like a novel, reminiscing of past exploits.
Virginia was a lifelong member of St Thomas Aquinas. She served faithfully in the church in many capacities. An especially joyful time was spent as a member of the church choir.
Virginia is survived by siblings; Jim Mulhern, Neil Mulhern, Terence Mulhern and Dorothy “Dody” Dulaney. Children; John, Larry (Anna), Charlie, Mark (Danni), Mike, Maryann (Bruce) and Paul (Gayle). Daughter in law Nancy Desnoyers (Don), 24 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Virginia is preceded in death by Bill Desnoyers and Larry Littel, siblings Frances, Arlene, Kathleen, Thomas, William and John, her sons Don and Bill, daughter-in-law Laura (Mike) Littel and Nancy (Charlie) Littel.
