Mark Modory, 66, of Kenosha passed away on March 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Mark was born on September 18, 1956, in Kenosha, the son of the late Louis and Betty (Newman) Modory. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha. Mark married Maureen Fanning on August 20, 1983, in Kenosha.
He worked for K-Mart in loss prevention for 32 years. Mark’s life of service to our community should be an inspiration to others. Mark was a Member of the Kenosha Common Council, Kenosha County Board of Supervisors for 15 years, Board member of Kenosha County Health Department, Board member of Kenosha Mental Health/AODA, and Board member of Kenosha City/County Joint Services. Mark was on the Board of the Kenosha Dream Playground Project, Co-Chair of the committee and Father of the Kenosha County Dog Parks. Without Mark and Elvis, the Kenosha Dog Parks would not exist. Lastly, Mark was also on the Board of Directors of Shalom Center for over 10 years and shelter support staff for an additional 5 years.
He constantly and consistently gave of himself to insure our community was a better place to live. He has truly had a lifelong commitment to service to better our city, whether it be inclusion for children of all abilities without a voice or for our four legged friends to run and play off of their leashes.
His hobbies included politics, loved dogs, fishing, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks and the Wisconsin Badgers but most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Maureen Modory of Kenosha; brothers, Louis (Kathleen) Modory Jr. of Pleasant Prairie, Jerry (Margaret) Modory of FL; sister, Sharon (Ron) Cain of MO; brother-in-laws, Richard (Cheryl) Fanning, Lawrence (Elizabeth) Fanning, Brian Fanning; sister-in-laws, Leann Schuster, Erin Grimmer, Richelle (Brian) Boslau; Mark is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many other friends and family. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul “Rochau” and his brother-in-law, Jerome Grimmer.
A memorial gathering will be held at Kenosha Funeral Services on Thursday April 6, 2023 from 5:30PM-7:30PM with memorial services to follow immediately at 7:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial to Kenosha County Dog Parks or Kenosha Dream Playground, would be greatly appreciated.
