Kathy Kaye (Pence) Kurtz, 64, of Kenosha, WI, died peacefully on April 29, 2021 at home. She was born above Rexall Drug store in Crandon, WI; graduating in Rhinelander, WI. Kathy started her automotive career at Montgomery Wards selling tires in Waukegan, IL. She proceeded to work at almost all the automotive stores in Kenosha, being a true professional, ending her career at AutoZone as Manager of Outside Sales. Kathy was extremely dedicated to each & everyone of her customers; going out of her way to get them the right part for their vehicles; which she was extremely good at. Finding parts for many that others could not find. Katy wanted it mentioned that she loved all her customers & it gave her great pleasure to serve each & everyone of them. She had a personal relationship with many of her customers & treated them like family.
Kathy was survived by her siblings, Dan (Lee) Pence, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Wayne (MaryJane) Pence, Townsend, WI, Peggy (Bruce) Hoormann, Oshkosh, WI, David (Robin) Pence, Burlington, WI, Mark Pence, Post Falls, ID, Kim (Doug) Zwischenberger, Spokane, WA; with numerous nieces & nephews, and sister-in-law Faye Pence.
Kathy was married to John Kurtz (1981-1994). In the late 90’s Kathy and Shelly Shewmake became close friends. Kathy’s generosity and kindness will be remembered by Shelly and her children with deep gratitude. Even when their relationship changed in 2014, Kathy continued to be generous and kind. She will be deeply missed by Shelly and her children, Thomas (Christy) Shewmake, Melissa (Vincent Dodson) Shewmake, and Steven Shewmake.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Gary, and her husband John.
We thank her dear friend of many years; Debbie Bonofiglio for her time to help Shelly to care for Kathy in the last months of her life.
Per Kathy’s wishes there will be no services held.
We entrust her eternal soul into the hands of the true and living God; who always acts rightly according to his perfect and sovereign will.
