JoAnn Canard left us peacefully during the early morning hours of September 23, 2024, after a year-long battle with cancer. Born JoAnn Boxer on June 27, 1947, she was a lifelong resident of Kenosha, Wisconsin. After graduating from Tremper High School in 1965, JoAnn worked at the Kenosha National Bank for many years and was very proud when she was able to move into her first apartment in downtown Kenosha above Villa D’Carlo. A true Kenosha native, she cherished the beauty of her hometown, often spending her days enjoying its parks, lakes, and breakfast spots.
Family was important to JoAnn, and she greatly enjoyed outdoor gatherings, holiday celebrations and casual get-togethers. JoAnn had a passion for bowling. Whether she was rolling strikes during a weekly bowling league game or sharing a meal afterward, she enjoyed the sport for most of her life. She enjoyed dancing to live music and cherished spending time with Daisy, her niece’s toy poodle.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Boxer; mother, Ann Velvikis; and stepfather, Al Velvikis. She is survived by her daughter, Chris Canard; brother, Kevin (Becky) Velvikis; sisters, Norma (David) Marlowe and Connie Velvikis; nieces and nephews including Rachel, Stephanie (Allen), Ronny, Nicholas (Tovah), and Daniel, great-nephew, Brady; and great-nieces, Daviana and Hailey. Rest easy and in eternal peace, JoAnn.
