Jean Marie Nelson, 80 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021, at her home.
She was born May 5, 1940, in Kenosha, WI the daughter of the late Peter and Eloise (Flammang) Karabetsos and remained a lifelong Kenosha County resident, spending many years in Bristol as well as Kenosha.
Jean was a 1958 graduate of Bradford High School; she was a founding member of a “Food Club” with her high school friend Carol Walker and kept her involvement with it for many years along with her sisters Lynn, Gail and some lifelong friends. She was a member of Bristol Driftbusters snowmobile club when she was younger. She was a lifelong member of the 700 Club and was an active church member. Jean was always looking for ways to help. She had sponsored a child in another country and also donated to ASPCA to help prevent animal cruelty. If anyone needed anything they knew they could go to Jean for help. Jean was a member of The Sweet Adelines and enjoyed bowling, cooking, gardening and playing cards; in recent years had spent her time in Lake Alfred, FL with her sister Lynn, where she gained many close friends and will be missed.
Survivors include her children, Pete (Doris) Nelson of Racine, WI, Greg Nelson of Portage, WI, Marie (Elijah) McAlister of Racine, WI, Glen (Tricia) Nelson of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and Mark (Amy) Nelson of Kenosha, WI; siblings, Robert (Ursula) Karabetsos, Lynn Schuldt, Gail (Greg Stone) Derringer, and Richard Karabetsos; grandchildren, Heather, Peter Jr, Dale, Justin, Kayla, Bridget, Emilee, Isaiah, Nichole, Brent, Sam, Alanzo, and Chloe; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a son, David Nelson.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Proko Funeral Home with a memorial service commencing at 6:30 p.m.
