Jason Tyler Jabs, 39, passed unexpectedly on Thursday, August 29th, 2024, at his residence in Pleasant Prairie.
Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on June 1st, 1985, he was the son of Thomas and Karen (Paul) Jabs. He graduated from Indian Trail Academy in 2003 and earned a diploma in welding from Gateway Technical College in 2004. In his youth, he enjoyed Taekwondo and scuba diving and was an accomplished cross-country runner and baseball player at Mary D. Bradford High School.
Jason was involved with the Boy Scouts for many years, earning his Eagle Scout Award in 2003 by repairing and painting the Women & Children’s Horizons domestic abuse shelter in Kenosha. He spent many weekends at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta in Burlington and Robert S. Lyle Scout Reservation in Elcho. He continued volunteering with the Scouts into adulthood and was a longtime Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 538.
Naturally, Jason was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, hunting, fishing, and spending time in his spacious backyard. He was a passionate collector who liked working with his hands – he could often be found in his garage tinkering with a new project, anything from a car, boat, jet ski, or motorcycle. Later in life, he enjoyed riding his Harley and exploring the Midwest.
Meeting new people as a rideshare driver brought Jason great joy. He was a kind man who was generous with his time no matter how well he knew you. An animal lover and former vet tech, Jason leaves behind two cherished dogs: Benelli and Wrigley. Jason was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers and enjoyed attending baseball games with his family.
Survivors include Jason’s parents, Karen and Thomas; two brothers, Justin (Stephanie) and Joshua (Amy); nephews Joseph and Anthony; beloved son Bryson and his mother, Teri. Jason was preceded in death by grandparents Lorraine and Kenneth Paul and Dolores and Walter Jabs.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 1:00pm at Lakeside Lutheran Church 3833 8th Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53143.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jason’s memory to Hope for the Day (hftd.org) or the Wisconsin Humane Society (wihumane.org).
