James Alan Nelson, 81 years old, lifelong resident of Kenosha, WI passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha, WI.
He was born January 29, 1940, in Kenosha, WI the son of the late Elmer Nelson and Sophie (Winick) Nelson and remained a lifelong resident. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965 before being honorably discharged. On November 7, 1970, Jim married Phyllis (Milner) Derwae in Kenosha, WI. He worked for American Motors Corporation, Kenosha, WI and retired in 1989, after 30 years of service.
His interests included stamp collecting and dealing, he owned Prestige Stamps for ten years, and traveling to Florida with Phyllis.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Phyllis; and his son, Troy Nelson; and sister-in-law Esther (Ernest) Bednar.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 NOON on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Proko Funeral Home, with funeral services commencing at 12:00 NOON. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, Kenosha, WI. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Kenosha Special Olympics, 5912-44th Avenue Kenosha, WI 53144 or the Kenosha Achievement Center, 1218 79th St., Kenosha, WI 53143, in his memory.
