Gregory Ole Prairie, age 73, of Twin Lakes, WI, died at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Son of the late Vincent and Leola (Lauridsen) Prairie, Greg was born on May 15, 1948 in Kankakee, IL. Greg was one of four children, and grew up in Momence, IL, attending Momence High School. In March of 1968, Greg enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Army Commendation medal, and Bronze Star medal. Upon his return from overseas, Greg began his career as a mechanic. On April 12, 1975, he was united in marriage with Monica M. Suwalski in Chicago, IL. Greg was an avid firearm collector, a member of the Twin Lakes Gun Club, especially enjoyed pheasant hunting with his canine companion, Jack, and also took pleasure in fishing and boating.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Monica; sisters, Vinet (Jack) Karalevicz and Marla Hamann; brother, Douglas (Kim McDowell) Prairie, and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Leola; and brother-in-law, Wayne Hamann.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 3:00PM at Haase-Lockwood Funeral Home and Crematory of Twin Lakes, WI. A visitation will take place from 1:00PM until the time of the memorial service. Inurnment will take place on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 1:00PM at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleums, 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Twin Lakes Rescue Squad, 236 E. Main St., Twin Lakes, WI, 53181.
