Gene Cruz, 61, of Kenosha passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, Monday, October 7, 2024 at Froedtert and the Medical College in Milwaukee.
He was born on February 9, 1963 to Eugenio Cruz and Ana Camacho in Chicago, IL. He was educated in the schools of Chicago and graduated from Prosser High School. He received his BA from Carthage College in 2005.
On July 24, 1999 Gene married Tammy Howard in Kenosha.
Gene worked as an economic support specialist for Racine County.
Gene loved music and being a DJ and being a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #525. Gene was a devoted and loving Husband, Papi and Grandfather.
Gene is survived by his wife Tammy, his sons Justin D. Cruz, James A. (Vanessa Figueroa-Porter) Porter and Gene E. Cruz, his mother Ana Camacho Ortiz, his siblings Maria Carrasquillo, Carmen Cruz, Jesus (Christine L.) Cruz and David (Yosra) Cruz and his grandchildren Rowan Kraus and Lillianna Figueroa. Gene is also survived by his in-laws Evan (Denise Shantry) Howard, John Howard, Dorinda (Jesus) Aldridge, Breck (Virginia) Howard, Todd (Kelly) Howard and Elden (Michelle) Howard and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, a brother Raphael Cruz and a brother-in-law Roberto Carrasquillo.
Funeral Services for Gene will be held on Monday, October 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13th from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) to 5:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials would be appreciated to the family or to the Three Harbors Council.
