Gaile Marie Jelen (Johnson) age 80, of Kenosha, passed away at Hospice House Pleasant Prairie on October 12th, 2024, surrounded by her friends and daughters. Born on July 8th, 1944, to the late Robert Johnson & Evelyn (Olson) Johnson in Iron Mountain, Michigan, Gaile was a beloved mother, grandmother, great – grandmother, and friend and touched the lives of many.
When she was a child, she moved from Iron Mountain to Kenosha where she stayed the rest of her life. She attended local schools and graduated from Bradford High School in 1962. On January 9, 1994, Gaile married Paul Jelen, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memories. Gaile loved spending time with her friends at the casino and the dog track, where her wedding dinner was even held. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. More recently, she found immense joy in her role as a great-grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her great-grandchildren.
Gaile is survived by her daughters: Suzette (Jay) Young and Kirsten Daley, grandchildren: Ashlee Colmer, Katie Daley, Ryan (Brynn) Colmer, and Jessica Daley, great-grandchildren: Joshua, LeeAnna, Maxton, Cairo, and Eloi, and many good friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Jelen, and parents.
The family would like to thank Diane Benefiel, Betty Sheffield, and Penny Johnson for their support, friendship, and kindness, and Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie for all their wonderful compassion and care in taking care of Mom in her final days.
As per Gaile’s wishes, services were held privately.
