David Neitzel, 76, of Pleasant Prairie passed away on Tuesday December 21, 2021, at Froedtert South-Kenosha surrounded by his loving family.
Dave was born on October 5, 1945, in Shawano, WI, the son of the late Martin and Evelyn (Fischer) Neitzel. He married Barbara Funk on June 10, 1972, in Melrose Park, IL. He was employed as a mechanical engineer at Abbott for many years. Dave was a member of the Kenosha Bible Church and served in many capacities. After retiring early, he and Barb traveled for many years volunteering for a Christian RV ministry called SOWERS (Servants On Wheels Ever Ready) doing work projects for various Christian organizations. He was known for his smile, his endless repertoire of jokes, and coming up with creative ways to make things work easier. He enjoyed reading, bike riding, hiking, traveling, sightseeing, playing table games, and following his beloved Packers.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Neitzel of Pleasant Prairie; children, Heather (Kevin) McCowen of Grayslake, Brent (Gladys) Neitzel of Chicago; brothers, Ken (Jennifer) Neitzel of MN, Phil Neitzel of MI, Dan Neitzel of IL; sister, Deb (Al) Quast of AZ; and grandchildren, Aliyah, Josiah, and Noah McCowen. Dave was preceded in death by his brothers, Gordy & Doug.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
