Althea Harris, 61, was born December 1, 1962, in Chicago, IL. She entered into enteral rest on August 28, 2024.
Althea was a loving daughter, mother, and grandmother. She had a heart for others and would do anything for her family and friends. Her love for her grandchildren was unparalleled. Althea was loved by many, and her smile brightened any room she entered. You could hear Althea cheering on her favorite Chicago teams, the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and White Sox, cooking a fantastic meal for her entire family or shopping until she dropped.
Althea was an administrative assistant at the Shalom Center for many years. Althea loved her community and often volunteered at various events, especially for the Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund.
From a young age, Althea’s faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering. She was a dedicated member of the New Life Covenant Southeast in Chicago until her health declined, after which she continued her spiritual journey by virtually attending services at Second Baptist and Mt Sinai Baptist Church. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort, guiding her through life’s challenges.
Althea’s passing leaves a void that can never be filled. She is survived by her children, Antione Harris of Kenosha, Keithon Harris of Chicago, Verta (Mary) Jackson of Racine, Necola (QuoVadis Lackland) Moore of Kenosha, Lakeisha Moore of IL, LaToya (Timothy Baker) Jones of IL, Lasheka Moore of IL; Allen Moore of IL; long-time family friend who was like a daughter, Shamia Jones; special cousins, Jacqueline Franklin, Sonja Frasier, Terry Green; special nephew, Zachary Shaw; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends will treasure her memory forever. Her absence will be keenly felt by all who knew and loved her.
Althea was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Eddie Jones and Callie Harris, her dear friend and close companion of over forty years, Thurmond Roosevelt Moore, and her son, Kawone Andrew Harris.
I fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give that day: and not to me only, but unto all of them that also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4: 7 – 8.
A visitation will be held at Kenosha Funeral Services on Saturday September 14, 2024 from 11:00AM-1:00PM with funeral services to follow immediately at 1:00PM.
