Internists need to have a vast and comprehensive knowledge of medicine as they coordinate care and manage treatment for a diverse population of patients, usually over long periods of time. Their work varies greatly as one patient may have hypertension and the next may have depression or allergies. The Primary Care Physician’s role is a cornerstone for long-term patient wellness and quality of life.
Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital is excited to welcome two new Internists to the team. Let’s meet Dr. Dixit and Dr. Snower!
DR. NINAD DIXIT, INTERNAL MEDICINE PHYSICIAN
Welcome! Why did you choose to practice at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital?
I’ve been practicing medicine for over twenty-three years, and I am so grateful that my journey has brought me here to Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital. I chose to move my practice to Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital because I value primary care in a community setting. This community hospital is small enough to foster personal connections with patients and staff but also large enough to provide a high level of well-rounded quality service. I live in the area with my wife. Our two sons are in college. I like to volunteer and be part of the community where I work. Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital is a wonderful fit for me and my values as a Primary Care Physician.
Why is Primary Care important, and how do your specialty skills help local patients?
When a patient is receiving specialty treatments, there can be data overload from multiple departments, surgeons, and physicians. Primary Care is so important because I become the quarterback for my patients as I coordinate communication with colleagues and the patient. I have experience in managing many chronic conditions and have a diagnostic skill set that can only be acquired with years of training and practice. I am board certified in Internal Medicine, I have a degree in Pharmacy, and I speak multiple languages including Russian and a few Indian languages. My goal is to help each patient achieve their healthy living goals. I listen and take time to understand the patient as a whole. I strive to explain therapies and medications in terms that each patient can comprehend. I believe in establishing a partnership where the patient is an active participant in their healthcare. When a patient understands their medical care, they feel empowered with that knowledge, and I find it leads to better compliance and improved outcomes. Building relationships is imperative, and when patients trust that I am their advocate, they ask more questions and communication is enhanced.
What is most enjoyable about your practice?
I enjoy the investigative work of being an Internist. I get to be like Sherlock Holmes as I gather data, such as patient history, clinical findings, and diagnostic testing, then I identify the problem and come to a conclusion. Being an Internist is a cognitive discipline, and it is very satisfying. I enjoy solving problems and building connections with patients and families as I guide them on their healthcare journey from after pediatrics through geriatrics.
What does being part of the Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital Team mean to you?
It is important for me to be part of the whole process of care for the benefit of my patients. At Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital, we have excellent surgeons, therapies, and programs, like cardiovascular and neurological, which means my patients and their families are not burdened with having to travel out of the area to receive treatments. The ease of physician collaboration and the dedicated interdisciplinary approach of Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital is of great value to my patients. I am confident that patients can receive high quality care here, and they can trust me to be their advocate in this comprehensive healthcare system.

DR. LAUREN SNOWER, INTERNAL MEDICINE PHYSICIAN
Welcome! Why did you choose to practice at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital?
I’ve been practicing medicine for over nine years, and I am passionate about providing primary care in a community setting. I am excited that Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital has leading edge programs and resources for my patients. I grew up in Wilmette, IL and went to UW-Madison and Chicago Medical School. I live in the greater area with my family, and I really like the community values of Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital. I value being involved in a smaller community and making a positive difference in the healthcare of the local population.
Why is Primary Care important, and how do your specialty skills help local patients?
I am board certified in Internal Medicine. As a Primary Care Physician, I focus on preventative care, such as colonoscopies and pap smears, and on the wellbeing of the patient as a whole. I am very experienced with diabetes control and helping patients meet diabetic control goals. I also have extensive experience with patients with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, obesity, depression, and anxiety. With the vast experience that comes with practice and time, I am skilled at uncovering the big picture with my patients and addressing the underlying issues. Social or psychological issues may be barriers for a patient. For example, if a patient’s sugar levels are uncontrolled and they are not exercising, maybe the underlying concern is depression. There is always a lot more to understanding a patient’s wellbeing. As a Primary Care Physician, it’s important for me to build long-term relationships with my patients so I can help them achieve overall wellness. I strive to be a good role model as well, and I live a healthy lifestyle and practice what I preach.
What is most enjoyable about your practice?
I enjoy building relationships with patients. Health is the number one most important thing, and getting my patients healthy, helping them navigate their healthcare experience, and earning their trust with managing their health are important to me. I love pathology and physiology, and I have an innate compassion for people. I always knew I wanted to help people and that being a physician was my calling. I enjoy advocating for my patients and being relentless in their diagnosis and treatment. With me as your Primary Care Physician, you are not alone. We are in this together.

It’s apparent that Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital has worked extremely hard to build a comprehensive healthcare system for this community. Being part of this team gives my patients local access to world-class resources and helps to ensure continuity of care. I am grateful to have found a hospital system that cares so much about community health. I am here to collaborate and to help my patients navigate the healthcare system. My goal is to help patients receive the care they need and want, and with the Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital team, I trust that I have my patients on a pathway to success.
