KUSD offers Building Trade Careers Summer Camp

Camp runs July 24-27 for KUSD students in grades 7-9 during the '23-'24 school year

By THE KENOSHA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

The independent governmental body known as the Kenosha Unified School District was created in 1967 but was built on a foundation of educational excellence established by area schools as early as 1835, a full 13 years before Wisconsin even became a state.

Kenosha Unified School District is partnering again with Riley Construction, Martin Petersen Company, and Pieper Electric to offer the Building Trade Careers Summer Camp. The camp runs July 24-27, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and is open to KUSD students who will be in grades 7, 8, or 9 during the 2023-2024 school year. Each day we meet at the Educational Support Center (3600 52nd St.) and take a bus to the different local employers where the students learn hands-on about all of the different careers in the architecture and construction industry. There is no cost.

Students will experience:

  • Four days of hands-on demonstrations and presentations
  • Exposure to careers in the construction industry
  • Learning side-by-side with local building trade employees
  • Visiting a local construction project to see learning in action
