The UW-Parkside women’s basketball team traveled to St. Louis to close out the 2022 portion of the schedule with a game against Missouri-St. Louis on New Year’s Eve.
The Rangers came away with a blowout win, defeating the Tritons, 91-65, while putting together a record-breaking performance. Following its fourth win in a row, the entire Parkside team is this week’s Kenosha.com Ranger of the Week.
In the victory over the Tritons, the Rangers combined for a .673 field-goal percentage on 33-of-49 shooting, which shattered the program single-game record. The previous record of .625 had stood since December of 2012, when Parkside defeated Finlandia, 100-28, on 40-of-64 shooting.
All nine players who saw action for the Rangers scored in the contest and the team saw impressive shooting numbers from top to bottom.
Nelson continues to lead the team in scoring (21.0 ppg) and rebounds (5.5 rpg). Gallasova leads the Rangers in assists (4.6) and field-goal percentage (.487).
“Big road win against UMSL,” Parkside coach Jen Conely said. “We knew they wanted to pound it inside and I thought that our defense was solid. Posts were battling for defensive position. Offensively, we got great looks early and did a great job of knocking down threes and getting to the rim. Great way to end 2022. Looking forward to kicking off 2023 at home against GVSU on Thursday.”
The Rangers (7-6, 3-1 GLIAC) return to action 5:30 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 5) when they host fourth-ranked Grand Valley State at DeSimone Arena. For more information, visit parksiderangers.com.
