Sustainable Urban Development Roundtable

The Carthage Business and Professional Coalition will host a roundtable program featuring keynote speaker, Tim Duggan, founder of Phronesis, a groundbreaking urban planning and design firm.

Join us from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in Carthage’s Todd Wehr Center Jockey Rooms. This event is free but registration is required.

Keynote speaker Tim Duggan, ASLA, is the founder of Phronesis, a Kansas City urban planning and design firm. Known for his highly nimble and responsive approach to collaborative visioning and design, Mr. Duggan has become an expert on urban regeneration plans that achieve strong community investment and transformative results.

Mr. Duggan developed his reputation working on disaster recovery projects in New Orleans and Greensburg, Kansas, where he built the nation’s first eco-playground alongside reconstructed housing, and in Newark, New Jersey, where he helped design a 56-unit mixed occupancy housing complex that integrates urban agriculture and horticultural therapy to serve its disabled veteran residents.

With Mr. Duggan’s expertise in strategic urban design to frame our conversation, attendees will break out into discussion groups to address a range of issues facing urban development in our region. Topics include:

Each table will be led by a faculty member or community expert who will facilitate collaborative conversation on each of these topics. Plan to come away with practical strategies and new partnerships for investment in our community. Seating is limited!
