Willie Smoot Jr., 87, of Pleasant Prairie, WI passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Primrose Memory Care.
Born on November 20, 1937, in Natchez, MS, he was the son of the late Willie and Lurena (Burks) Smoot.
He entered the United States Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1958.
Willie had many jobs throughout his life which led him to be a recruiter for Humana. That is where he met his wife, Urcela Graham, and they were married on August 25, 2001. He was best known to be the social butterfly talking to anyone and everyone. He had a heart of gold and made everyone feel loved. In his younger years, he played trumpet in a traveling band.
Willie is survived by his wife, Urcela; daughter, Stephanie Smoot; step-daughter, Melissa (Marquis) Martin; siblings, Dorothy Smoot-Bassett, Debra (Frank) Smoot-Bourgeois, and Robert Smoot; and step-grandchildren, Kennedy, Layla, and Marquis “MJ” Martin Jr.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Claude E. Smoot and Joseph Smoot.
A visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran, 4311 104th Street, Pleasant Prairie on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. A private interment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
