Sophie Malinowski, 75, of Kenosha, Wisconsin passed away on June 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Sophie was born on March 12, 1950, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late William and Genevieve (Kozowicz) Malinowski.
Sophie’s life was one of dedication and hard work. She received an associate degree in Horticulture from Gateway Technical College. She worked at American Motors/Chrysler Motors Corporation until her retirement. She was also employed by Dairyland Greyhound Park for several years as a Landscape Maintenance Supervisor.
Sophie was a devoted John Wayne fan who admired the actor “The Duke”, his on-screen persona, and his films. She particularly delighted in watching any Western classics. Sophie had a special passion for gun shooting sports and was a member of the Conservation Club of Kenosha County Bristol Shooting Range and also served as a Range Safety Officer. Her hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, cooking, and a deep passion for the outdoors. Sophie always enjoyed a competitive game of cards, as well as playing the board game “Sorry” with friends and family. Sophie loved spending time with all of her pets, but she shared a special bond with her Teddy Roosevelt Terrier, Bunny.
Survivors include her sisters, Genieve (Robert) Sutterfield of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Josie Malinowski of Kenosha, nephew Robert (Kate) Sutterfield, niece Carolyn Casey, cousin, Kathy (Jerome) Jarems. Also included are her special friends Kathy Estep, Fred Frank, Fred Frank Jr., Jim, Julie and Zachery Thaxton, Chris Mason, Ron and Mary Viola, and Tina Denning.
Sophie was preceded in death by her parents, and a beloved friend Christine Thaxton.
Sophie will always be remembered for her genuine love, her kind and generous heart and her devotion to friends and family. May her memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate to know her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Hospice Alliance team, especially Julie Feuerbach, Ann Town, Meaghan O’Boyle and Drakara Bibbs, for their exceptional care, comfort, and empathy.
