Rosemary Werwie, 101, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Hospice Alliance Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Born on December 6, 1923, in Racine, WI; she was the daughter of the late Walter T. and Violet J. (Burant) Kuras. She attended St. Rose Grade School, graduating from St. Catherine’s High School and Moore’s Business School. She was born and raised in Racine, moving to Kenosha, WI in 1947.
On May 29, 1947, she married Christopher W. Werwie at St. Rose Church in Racine, WI. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1993.
Rosemary worked in the Medical Records Department as an Accredited Record Technician at the old St. Catherine Hospital for 20 years until her retirement in 1984.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Rosemary is survived by her three daughters, Laura (Daniel) Villella of Somers, WI, Patricia (Michael) MacCready of Kenosha, WI, and Lynn Sallander of Hudson, WI; grandchildren; Scott (Brenda Hinderliter) Villella, Kristen (Ryan) Boettcher, Colleen Scruggs, Katie (Rob) Hamm, Maureen (Chad) Johnson, Michael Sallander, Ivanka Sallander, and Cody Gunderson; great grandchildren, Kayla, Brooke, Xander, Zoe, Josie, Tommy, Violet, George, Norah, Joey, Landon and Lilliana.
She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Michael S. Werwie and Christopher T. Werwie; twin daughters at birth; her sister, Louise Schumaker; and brother-in-law, Carl Schumaker
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 3rd Floor staff at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie, the staff at Hospice Alliance Hospice House; and to Father Robert McDermott and Father Dwight Campbell for the kindness and support given to their family.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with interment in St. George Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church or Masses of Remembrance would be appreciated by the family.
