Patricia Jean Bernacchi, 86, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 18th, 2025 at Library Terrace Assisted Living Community.
She was born on June 30th, 1938 to the late Louis and Carmen “Marge” (Olivo) Bernacchi in Kenosha.
Pat completed her elementary and high school education at St. Mary’s Catholic School. She began her college career at Milton College and graduated from UWM with a Bachelor of Science degree. Upon graduation, Pat worked as the Camp Director for the Girl Scouts of America, Wisconsin Region. Pat continued her academic journey at Florida State University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work.
Pat returned to Milwaukee to work for the Department of Public Welfare and later accepted a position at Milwaukee Regional Medical Center Mental Health Complex Child Adolescent Treatment Center in Wauwatosa WI.
Pat retired from Milwaukee County in 1995 and returned to Kenosha to be the primary caretaker for her mother Carmen.
Pat enjoyed traveling with friends. She visited 48 out of the 50 United States and several European Countries. She had a lasting passion for collecting newspaper clippings and postcards.
Pat was the Matriarch of her family. She is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Carmen Bernacchi and her sister Carole (Walter) Nesgood. She is survived by her sister Linda Wikel, brother John Bernacchi and Cindy Krauss, her nephews, Dominick (Betsy) Bierdek, Douglas (Pamela) Bierzychudek, Dan (Nancy) Wikel, and Martin Wikel, her nieces, Ann (Rhett) Williamson, Bonnie (Brian) Anderson, Roxanne (Sean) Coyle, her many great nieces and nephews; Austin and Ella Bierdek, Kathryn and William Bierzychudek, Abigail (Kyle) Kramer, Paul (Amanda) Williamson, Grant, Audrey and Troy Williamson, Stacy and Colton Anderson, Ben and Mia Wikel, Brock Coyle and the daughters of Cindy, Katelynn and Sarah Krauss.
The Bernacchi family would like to thank Right-At-Home, Compassus Hospice Care, and the entire staff at Library Terrace Assisted Living Community for their incredible care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Shalom Center Kenosha or to a charity of one’s choice would be greatly appreciated.
Graveside services will be held on Friday May 30th 2025 at 12:00 noon at St. James Cemetery in Kenosha.
