December 20, 1931 – August 10, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Normayne G. Stringer, who left us peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Racine, WI, on December 20, 1931, to the late Angus and Genevieve (Maybee) Anderson. Normayne lived a rich and full life that she dedicated to her family, students, and a love of reading.
On June 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to John Stringer.
Normayne was a beloved teacher who shaped the minds of countless students throughout her career. As a newlywed, she began her journey in education, teaching elementary-age students at the Naval dependents school on Midway Island. Over the years, she left her mark on various school districts across Wisconsin, Illinois, and South Carolina, impacting lives far beyond the classroom.
Her love for reading, particularly mystery novels, was infectious and shared with all of her children. She was a loving mother to her three daughters, Catherine (Donald) McClarey, Susan Stringer, and Jeanette (James) Cooper; her grandson, Donald John McClarey, and her brother, Martin Anderson. The love she poured into her family was immeasurable, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion and strength that will live on through them.
In addition to her parents, Normayne was preceded in death by her husband, John Stringer; her son, Charles Stringer; her grandson, Lawrence McClarey; her siblings, Raymond Anderson, Beverly Bowen, Sharon Anderson, and Genevieve Anderson.
Private interment will be held in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to an animal shelter of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
