On Monday, October 13, 2025, Nora went peacefully into the arms of Jesus. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Murray and mother to Dan (Joyce) Murray, Paul (Christine) Murray, and Mary Beth (late Phillip) Houston; grandmother of ten grandchildren.
Nora was born to Martin and Mary Joyce on September 23, 1927, in Pittsburgh, PA, in the bustling neighborhood then known as The Bluff. She carried that vibrant energy throughout her life. Nora will always be remembered for her sparkling charm and sense of humor. She found professional satisfaction and success in teaching, specializing in the primary grades and reading. Her crowning achievements were writing a curriculum for a course on parent–teacher conferences and trademarking an accompanying logo.
On July 1, 1961, she married Dan Murray at Epiphany Catholic Church in downtown Pittsburgh. In the early days of their courtship, Dan often surprised her at school with visits and gifts. Later, they enjoyed trips to Niagara Falls, Ireland, Italy, and Germany, as well as many other destinations. Together, they raised three children: Dan Jr, Paul, and Mary Beth in Upper St Clair.
After her husband’s death in 2001, Nora moved to Asbury Heights in Mt Lebanon. More recently, she moved to The Primrose in Kenosha, WI, to be closer to family. Everywhere she went, Nora charmed all who knew her.
She is survived by one sister, Ann (late Stuart) Veiss. She is preceded in death by 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
She will be deeply missed by her family and countless dear friends.
