May 14, 1933 – January 11, 2026
Mildred “Millie” L. (Anderson) Johnson, 92, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at Home Inspired Senior Living, Somers, WI.
Millie was born to the late Lawrence and Myrle (Arveson) Anderson on May 14, 1933. She graduated from Wautoma High School in 1951. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Milwaukee and worked for AO Smith. She married Philip W. Johnson on February 13, 1960, in Mt Morris, WI, and in September 1960, they moved to Kenosha, creating a life together raising three children: Jody Walters, Gary (Jennifer) Johnson, and Jean (Mark) Blauser.
Millie was a homemaker who also demonstrated products for various companies and briefly worked at the Navy Exchange at Great Lakes Naval Base. She participated in the National Mutual Benefit Insurance Group for Kenosha, for which she was a former president. Millie enjoyed polka dancing, bowling, traveling with friends to Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama, and various trips within the United States. She enjoyed participating in bus excursions to different casinos and engaging in card games with family and friends, with particular success in Hand and Foot, where she was seldom defeated. Millie also had a soft spot for cats, especially kittens. Her house was decorated with figurines and throw blankets, and various articles of clothing showing her beloved cats.
Millie was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She and Phil loved to go polka dancing; they would attend Polka Festivals in the Midwest, traveling in the 5th Wheel RV. During their retirement years, they enjoyed winters in Mesa, Arizona, with family and friends. Even after Phil’s passing in December 2000, she continued to go to Mesa, as she loved the warm weather.
In addition to her children, she leaves behind seven grandchildren: Richard Walters, Sarah Walters, Zachary Blauser, Noah Johnson, Brooke Johnson, Joshua Johnson, and Emersyn Johnson, and nine great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-law, Kathleen Anderson, Roma Johnson, and JoAnn Hamilton, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Philip, Millie was preceded in death by her brother Howard Anderson, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gaynes (Jeanne) Johnson, Elwyn (Gwen) Johnson, and brothers-in-law Arden Johnson and Sherman Hamilton.
A special “Thank You” to the staff at Home Inspired for her care and support over the last 5 ½ years, and to St. Croix Hospice staff for their care during her final days. Also, a special “Thank You” goes to Cheryl Felland-Coy, her hairdresser for over five years; your care and patience made her enjoy every appointment.
Millie will be forever remembered for her kindness, loving heart, and warm smile for everyone. She loved having a good time with family and friends.
