Marilyn K. Sorenson, 82, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Manor Care.
She was born on September 22, 1942 to the late Clifford and Wilma (Nelson) Tate in Omaha, NE. She was educated in the schools of Omaha. Marilyn worked in the payroll division for many years.
She married her first husband in the early 1960’s and had two children. She married her second husband and had three more children.
After the death of her daughter, Carolyn, she took on the role of raising those grandchildren.
In 1981 she married John Sorenson in Omaha and they spent many years enjoying camping. He preceded her in death in 2020. In 2022 after spending her entire life in Nebraska she decided to move to Wisconsin to be closer to her daughter Janet.
Marilyn became involved with the Senior Center and she was finally able to focus on the crafting that she loved to create.
Marilyn loved cross stitching, tatting, hardanger, knitting and sewing and won many blue ribbons at the State Fair. Most of all she loved spending time with family.
Marilyn is survived by her children Robert (Shelli) Heflin, Janet (Larry) Smith, Steven (Kerri) Cowan and Kevin Cowan, 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a daughter Carolyn Cowan.
A Celebration of Life for Marilyn will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until the time of service.
