February 19, 1963 – November 18, 2025
Kit Edward Kraabel, age 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at home in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was born on February 19, 1963, in Chicago, IL. He was a devoted husband to Deni Kraabel and a loving father to Kody (Ellyn) Kraabel and Kadie (Zachary) Kraabel-Jacobson and two grandchildren, Autumn and Taliesin Kraabel as well as Oksana Choisk, who lived with the Kraabels for many years and is considered family. He will be dearly missed by many friends and extended family members.
He was not in pain, and his family was blessed with a wonderful weekend together right before he passed, filled with stories, jokes, and laughs. He still had his sense of humor and was able to share stories and a closeness that became treasured memories.
As many may know, Kit carried more than his share of health challenges over the years, and yet he met each one with that unmistakable Kraabel mix of grit, humor, and just the right touch of sarcasm. Even in the hardest times, he could still make everyone laugh. Kit was a man who enjoyed a good meal with even better people by his side to tell stories with and listen along to theirs with a smile on his face. He made everyone feel like welcome company when he spent time with them and could talk about anything from business to sports (especially the Cubbies!)
One of the great joys of this past year was Kit getting to see both of his children get married to wonderful people and walk his daughter Kadie down the aisle in June—a moment he was determined to share. It was a beautiful reminder of the love and devotion that defined him. He got to see the ultrasounds of his new grandson, Taliesin Kraabel. He was supportive and excited to see the new baby, and the family will make sure his story is told.
A private celebration of life will be held for the family. We remember him in the quiet moments he loved most, watching the birds and finding peace in their presence. When a cardinal visits, let it remind us of his love, his spirit, and that he is still with us.
