Karen C. Despin, 84, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Born on February 3, 1941, in Kenosha, WI, she was the daughter of the late Wallace O. and Agnes I. (Wienke) Berg. She graduated from Bradford High School. In 1960, she graduated from Gateway Technical College as a Licensed Practicing Nurse. In 1987, she completed the Assistant Administrative Secretarial Program at Gateway Technical College.
On August 6, 1960, she married Richard B. Despin at 1st United Methodist Church in Kenosha, WI. They later divorced but remained close friends.
Karen was employed as a nurse at various Kenosha and Racine facilities until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed music and was a huge Elvis fan.
She is survived by her three children, Doug (Tina) Despin of Kenosha, WI, Kurt (Melissa) Despin of Caledonia, WI, and Kris Despin of Caledonia, WI; and three grandchildren, Matthew Despin, Tyler (Lauren) Studrawa, and Aurelia Despin; and one great-granddaughter, Layla Studrawa.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Richard B. Despin.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Women and Children’s Horizons would be appreciated by the family.
