John William Rohde, age 92, was born to eternal life on Friday, August 22, 2025.
John was a lifelong resident of Kenosha. Born to the late Paul C. and Jennifer (Hansen) Rohde on June 17, 1933.
John was very active in Boy Scouts in the 1940s, earning the rank of Eagle. In the early 1950s, he was stationed in Germany and assigned to an artillery unit with the US Army. After he was honorably discharged, he returned to Kenosha, and in 1957, he married Carole H. Englund. They had 2 sons, John C. Rohde and Glenn S. Rohde. They were later divorced. In 1978, John married Mary (Dorsey) Petersen. They spent a wonderful forty-five years together until her passing in 2023.
John worked at Simmons for several years in the late 1950s until he was employed by Snap-On Tools in 1960, where he retired in 1996. With the love of being an Eagle Scout, John was an active Boy Scout Leader for many years and was a member of the Scout Leaders Rescue Squad. He was also a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church and an avid sailor.
John is survived by his son, John C. Rohde of Tulsa, OK; stepchildren Mary Peltz of California, Jane Petersen of Kenosha, David Petersen of North Carolina, William “Billy” Petersen of North Carolina, Michael Petersen of Kenosha, and James Petersen of Kenosha; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Glenn S. Rohde; stepdaughter, Catherine Fuller; and brother, P. Carson Rohde.
A visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery.
