John T. Troemel Jr., 62, of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Born on June 25, 1963, he was the son of Judi and the late John T. Troemel Sr. He attended St. Gilbert’s Elementary School and graduated from Grayslake High School, where he was a decorated wrestler who set school records and earned recognition for his dedication and athleticism on the mat.
On June 4, 1988, John married the love of his life, Christine Box, at St. Gilbert’s Catholic Church in Grayslake, IL. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to their family.
John worked as a proud union welder and regulator for North Shore Gas, where he was known for his strong work ethic, skill, and dedication. He took great pride in his craft and the relationships he built throughout his career.
Outside of work, John was a man of many passions. He loved golfing, camping with his family in their camper, hiking, biking, and tackling home and garage projects. He was incredibly handy—always fixing, building, or teaching others how to do the same. His garage was more than just a workspace; it was a gathering place where memories were made, stories were shared, and friendships were formed.
John had a gift for connecting with people. He made friends everywhere he went with his warm smile, kind heart, and genuine spirit. He lived in the moment and embraced life’s journey with joy and gratitude. A selfless and devoted father, John always put others before himself. He was a great listener, a steady presence, and a true example of what it means to be a good man.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Christine; his children, Nicole and Tommy (Katie) Troemel; his mother, Judi Troemel; and his siblings, Jeff (Dana) Troemel and Amy (Scott) Martin. He is also survived by numerous relatives and close friends whose lives he touched with his warmth, generosity, and lasting friendship.
He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Troemel Sr.
A visitation will take place at Proko Funeral Home on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. On Monday, July 14, 2025, prayers will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 7307 40th Ave, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately at a later date at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
John’s presence will always be felt—in the laughter shared around the garage, the lessons he passed down through his wisdom, and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him.
