Joaquin O. Norniella, 71, of Kenosha passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Hospice Alliance Hospice House.
He was born on August 5, 1953 to the late Orlando and Disnarda (Valdes) Norniella in Remedios, Cuba. He was educated in Rock Island, Ill and received his Bachelor’s Degree.
Joaquin entered the US Army serving in Germany and was honorably discharged.
On August 2, 1980 Joaquin married Bonnie Schlesser in Long Grove, IL.
Joaquin worked for the state of Illinois in the department of child support.
Joaquin was a member of the Moose Lodge in Zion, a member of AFSCME Council 31 and was a volunteer driver for KAFASI after retirement.
Joaquin loved reading, was a history buff, a Chicago Bears and White Sox fan. He was very active taking Derrick and Holly on camping trips through Indian Guides. He also spent time working with church youth and went on Missionary trips.
Joaquin is survived by his wife Bonnie, his children Derrick Norniella and Holly (Jimmy) Norniella Brown, his grandchildren Isabella Norniella, Briana Allen and Joaquin Brown and a sister Edith Norniella.
Full Military Honors for Joaquin will be held on Friday, August 1st at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at Casa Capri (2129 Birch Road Kenosha) with a memorial luncheon to follow.
