Janice “Jan” Lee Frederick, 62, of Kenosha, WI, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Froedtert Hospital, Pleasant Prairie, WI, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with illness.
Jan was born on February 24, 1963, in Kenosha, WI. The daughter of Melvin and Sharon (Bruce) Frederick, she remained a lifelong resident of Kenosha.
She was deeply loyal and loving, qualities that defined her relationships with those closest to her. Jan poured her heart into raising her two daughters, Brianna and Michaela, who were the lights of her life. She also carried the deep loss of her son Mikey, who passed away at just two and a half years old. That grief changed her forever, but it also deepened her compassion and resilience in searching for the good in life.
Jan was reunited in death with her son, Michael “Mikey” Lee Brandon Hamilton Frederick; her fiancé and lifetime partner of 28 ½ years, David Michael Hamilton; and her father, Melvin Frederick.
A lifelong learner, Jan was passionately dedicated to education, always seeking to grow and challenge herself. Jan was proudly pursuing her third master’s degree at the time of her passing. Her love for numbers and problem-solving led her to a fulfilling career as an accountant, a profession that suited her sharp mind and meticulous nature.
She had a strong moral compass and an unwavering sense of justice. Jan never hesitated to speak up for what was right, even when it meant standing alone. Her courage in the face of injustice was matched only by the size of her heart.
A devoted daughter, she sacrificed much of her own time and energy to care for her mother, who lives with Alzheimer’s, a testament to her selflessness and enduring love. Jan also found joy and comfort in the company of her beloved dog, Mona, who was always by her side.
Jan leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and an unrelenting passion for learning. Her family and friends will miss her deeply, but her spirit will live on in the lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the values she upheld.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home, followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in Somers, WI.
