Jane Ellen Dorey, 74, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, November 16th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 25th, 1951, to Robert and Genevieve Hessefort and spent her entire life in Kenosha, WI. Jane remained deeply rooted in her community throughout her life, touching countless lives with her unwavering faith and compassionate spirit. She married the love of her life, Al, on May 18th, 1974, in Kenosha. They met the summer after she graduated high school at the restaurant where Al worked, and they never looked back.
Jane’s life was a radiant reflection of her devotion to God and her calling to serve others. In her younger years, she coached youth volleyball and softball, taught CCD classes, and volunteered with veterans. Later in life, she found great fulfillment in volunteering at multiple local food pantries, supporting foster care families, and dedicating her time and heart to Journey Church. Whether she was preparing meals, comforting children, lending a helping hand to those in need, or even sewing quilts for Comfort for a Cause, Jane’s acts of service were driven by love and grace.
Jane also had many hobbies, which included her love of baking, sewing, and crafts. Jane also enjoyed taking trips with her Encore senior group and spending time with her Bible study groups. Aside from her personal hobbies, she found immense joy in her grandchildren, whether she was cheering them on at sporting events – both locally and all over the Midwest; watching the countless productions that they wrote, directed, and performed; or playing a competitive game of cards together.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Al; her sons Paul (Sarah) and Mike (Marie); and her five cherished grandchildren: Lizzie (17), McKenna (15), Emme (14), Sammy (13), and Evan (12). She also leaves behind her brothers Tom (Vickie) and Steve (Adela), and her sister Marcy (Mike), as well as numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Jane’s legacy lives on in the kindness she showed, the faith she lived, and the family she adored.
A Memorial Service for Jane will be held on Monday, November 24th, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Journey Church (10700 75th St., Kenosha, WI 53142). Visitation with the family will be on Monday at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jane’s name can be made to Garden Church Food Pantry, Fellowship Food Pantry, or 1 Hope.
