April 20, 1953 – February 21, 2026
Gregory “Greg” Karl Salzbrenner, 72, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Kenosha Senior Living, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in 1953 to Glen and Anne (Heman) Salzbrenner, Greg grew up in Lakewood, OH. He played the tuba in the marching band and wrestled on his high school team. After high school, Greg attended the United States Coast Guard Academy for two years, then transferred to Bowling Green State University, graduating with a degree in science/earth science education.
Greg met his future wife, Marilyn, in college after returning from a summer geological field course in Colorado. Greg went on to teach high school chemistry and earth science and later found his true talents after pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Ohio Wesleyan University, where he graduated summa cum laude. This achievement both launched his 30-year career as a chemist in the coatings and paint industry and taught his children the value of resourcefulness and hard work.
Greg enjoyed being a member of the Kenosha Pops Band and Parkside Community Band, where he played the trumpet for nearly 25 years. Through many summers at the bandshell and Christmas concerts at Carthage College, he was able to share his love of classical music with the Kenosha community. Greg lit up discussing anything about science, building model airplanes, and collecting die-cast tractors.
But most of all, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a loving grandfather.
Greg is survived by his wife Marilyn (McNamara), his daughters Sarah (Ivan) Rendulic, Rebekah (Tim) Strege and Hannah (Nick) Sattler; his mother Anne Salzbrenner, his grandchildren James, Luke, Juliana, Michael, and Roman, and his siblings Mark (Tammy) Salzbrenner, Ken (Lynn) Salzbrenner, Russ (Sue) Salzbrenner, Diane (Jim) Kraftschik, Carla Salzbrenner, and Rob (Susie) Salzbrenner.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Salzbrenner.

The family would like to thank the staff at Kenosha Senior Living for their loving and compassionate care given to Greg.
