Gloria M. Arneson, 87, of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Hospice Alliance House in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Born on January 7, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Leone (Krohn) Remington. She attended St. George Elementary and Junior High School and graduated from Bradford High School. She attended the Extension of University of Wisconsin which was the beginning of Parkside.
In 1957, Gloria first met Richard in dramatic club at St. George. On June 20, 1959, she married Richard J. Arneson at St. George Catholic Church for a blissful 65 years.
She worked at John Hancock Insurance until the birth of their first child. She then transitioned to be a full-time stay-at-home mother.
Richard and Gloria loved to travel and explored the following countries: England, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Caymen Islands, Barbados, St. Vincent, Mexico, and Jamaica. Her favorite country was her trip to Isreal. She volunteered her time at the Kenosha Hospital and St. Marks School. She was a skilled bridge player and competed in local, regional, and national bridge tournaments, earning her the title of Ruby Life Master. She was a member of Life Right, and President for a year, which is an organization to offer help for pregnant women and girls to discourage abortion. She was also a member of the Veritas Society. She loved spending her free time walking alongside Lake Michigan, she was a huge Chicago Cub, Green Bay Packer, and tennis fan.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard; daughter in law, Gloria Arneson; sister, Beverly Rossi; grandchildren, Robin (Eric) Criter, Tom (Jen) Arneson, Lindsay Arneson, and Paul Arneson; and two great-grandchildren, Katie and Henry Criter. We can’t forget to mention her cat, Ms. Kitty.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her children, Paul, David, and Gloria; sister, Florence DeSimone; and brother-in-law, Frank Rossi.
A visitation will take place at Proko Funeral Home on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. On Monday, June 23, 2025, prayers will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. We will proceed together for a Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 7117 14th Ave, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to immediately follow at St. James Cemetery.
