George Vujovic, 67, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, after a battle with cancer. Born in Kenosha on August 3, 1957, to the late Nikola and Helen (Schantek) Vujovic. He was proud of his Serbian heritage and raised in the Serbian Orthodox Church. He attended Mary D. Bradford High School, Gateway Technical College and North Carolina Coastal College.
George proudly served four years in the U.S. Marines obtaining the rank of Staff Sargent. After the Marines, he worked at American Motors and various concrete companies. He went on to be the Director of Public Works for the town of Salem, before working for the city of Kenosha, Public Works Department.
George’s marriage to Billee made him the proud father of Nikola “Nik” and James “Jimmy” Vujovic.
He was a member and past president of the U.S. Marine Corps League and member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge.
George was a master pig roaster and cook especially for charity events such as Fec’s Place annual charity pig roast which he roasted for 15 years. Through various organizations, he volunteered for Toys for Tots, Adopt A Family and Bloomin’ Bands. He was always willing to volunteer to help others especially other veterans.
George is survived by his sons, Nikola “Nik” and James “Uke” granddaughter, Gianni “Gia”, grandson, Vincenzo “Vinny”; sister, Anne Vujovic, his brothers and many great friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Interment with military honors will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to the family or a veteran’s organization would be appreciated.
