August 22, 1942 – February 11, 2026
Elizabeth “Betty” Turner (Mravik) passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the age of 83. Her last day was filled with love as her family gathered to spend time with her.
Betty grew up in the upper part of WI before moving to Chicago and then eventually to Kenosha. Married to Frederick (Rick) Turner, she had 2 daughters: Joanne (Joseph) Charon and her favorite, Heidi (Christopher) Eckelberg. Despite her love for her daughters, no love was greater than the love she had for her 2 grandchildren: Kyle Eckelberg and Jacob Charon.
One of Betty’s favorite places to be was on the sidelines of one of Kyle’s football games or at one of Jacob’s baseball games. During her last few months, both boys returned the favor by being there for their grandmother while she was battling dementia. Jacob even became her primary caregiver for the last several months, a position many 25-year-old young men would never consider. But neither boy batted an eye when it came to doing something for their grandmother. They loved her as much as she loved them.
A wonderful thing about Betty was her love for life and people. She truly flourished during her last 10 years. She spent as much time with family and friends as she could. She was always up for anything. Whether it was going down the 2-story water slide at Heidi’s annual 4th of July party, partying at Jacob’s frat house for his 21st birthday, or even taking a test drive in Kyle’s new hot rod truck, she did it all- and it didn’t take much convincing!
Betty was quite the social butterfly. She loved people. If you thought you were briefly running into her at the supermarket, you most likely got an hour-long recap about her daughter’s and/or grandchildren’s lives! She truly loved connections and was kind to everyone. For a woman who endured so much in her life, her heart remained large, full of love, and with God.
As a friend recently said, “It is hard to think of a world without a Betty Turner in it”. That is true. But, although her physical being is no longer here, she is in so many of us. Her kindness is one to be emulated by all. Being present and truly invested in relationships is a cue we can all take from her.
In that spirit, the family asks that you join us to happily remember Betty on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 3:30-5:30, followed by a brief service. Betty always loved a good party.
