Douglas (Doug) B. Ruesch, 74 of Beach Park, Illinois, peacefully met his Savior on August 6, 2025.
He was born July 31, 1951, to the late Herbert and Edna (Johnson).
He married Cheryll (Timm) on June 21, 1980
Douglas lived a life marked by hard work, dedication to his family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
Throughout his life, Doug held many jobs that reflected his strong work ethic and versatility. He began his career working for his father’s construction company, where he learned the value of craftsmanship and perseverance. He later worked as a truck driver for several mechanical contractors before finding a long-term home at Kroeschell Engineering. There, he spent 19 years serving as both a truck driver and shop manager—a role that combined his practical skills with leadership and reliability.
Doug found great joy in being outside. Whether felling trees or splitting wood, he embraced physical labor and the satisfaction it brought. Nature was not just a backdrop but an integral part of how he chose to spend his time. His love for the outdoors was closely matched by his devotion to his family and friends.
Spending time with loved ones—especially his grandchildren—was one of Doug’s greatest priorities. His presence brought warmth, strength, and humor to any gathering, and those moments shared will be cherished forever.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryll; his daughter, Jennifer (Phil) Gorski; and his son, Justin (Amanda) Ruesch; Grandchildren, Lily and Karl Ruesch. Brother, Pepper (Linda) Ruesch; sister, Ginger McDonnell; brother-in-laws, Scott Timm and Edward (Cindy) Timm Jr; sister in laws, Lori (John) Nogler and Lynn Morris. Many loved nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Edward and Joan (Hidde) Timm Sr.
May Douglas Ruesch’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well-lived through hard work, a love of nature, and devotion to family.
