Cherry Campbell, a man whose name was synonymous with love, laughter, and generosity, left this world peacefully on December 4, 2025, in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, after a life well-lived and cherished. Born on March 13, 1953, in the heart of Arkansas, Cherry was a beacon of light whose presence was felt by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
Cherry’s journey commenced in Warren High School, Arkansas, where he laid the foundation of an industrious life, teeming with achievement and service. His professional career was marked by dedication, first at American Motors and later at Chrysler, where he was not just a worker but a pillar of strength and reliability. Even during times when he was laid off from Chrysler, his resolve never wavered, and he found ways to contribute, embracing work at Snap-on Tools with the same vigor. He was also a marvelous barber.
Cherry’s life was a testament to the power of love, most notably for his dear wife, Linda, who was the cornerstone of his joy. Together, they created a tapestry of memories so vibrant that it continues to warm the hearts of their children-Cherry Campbell Jr., Iesha Campbell, and Kareem Campbell (Jessica)-and extended family. His siblings, Joyce Trotter-Hampton, Ivory J. Campbell, Marva Dancy (Willie), Betty Haynes (Robert), William Campbell (Jennifer), Bobby Campbell, Dexter Campbell (Janet), Gary Clary (Shelly), and Chester Mason (Freddie). 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also would like to thank his loving daughter-in-law whom he loved dearly throughout his time left on this earth, Jessica Campbell. All share in the rich legacy Cherry has left behind.
He is also preceded in death by, Parents-William and Zettie Campbell. His brother, Herbert L Campbell, Sisters-Merl Campbell, and Margie Campbell. And son-Darnell.
Cherry’s life was a kaleidoscope of interests, each reflecting a different facet of his magnificent character. An aficionado of the NBA and boxing, he found joy in the thrill of the game. His love for movies, especially old westerns, was not just a pastime but a way to connect and create moments of joy, often quoting lines with his son Kareem. Cherry was a sharp-dressed man with an eye for fashion, and his love for shoes was matched only by his passion for style.
A man of the earth, Cherry’s hands were often found tending to his garden, nurturing life in the form of flowers and produce, which he generously shared. His homemade wine was a labor of love, an embodiment of his spirit. Regular visits to Anton’s Greenhouse and Milaeger’s were not mere errands but pilgrimages to a place where his love for horticulture could bloom.
Cherry’s culinary talents shone brightest at his famous cookouts, where he was the master of the grill, ensuring no one left unfed. His church, St. Paul Baptist, benefitted from his unwavering faith, and his daily conversations with his brother Bobby were as much a part of his routine as they were a source of strength and inspiration.
His legacy will continue to walk in the light of his love and wisdom. Cherry Campbell was not just a man but a phenomenon. Loving, funny, thoughtful-these words only scratch the surface of a life so richly lived.
As we celebrate Cherry’s life, let us remember that the measure of a man is not in the years he has lived but in the lives he has touched. His indomitable spirit and infectious zest for life serve as a guiding star for us all. Cherry Campbell may have departed from this earthly realm, but his legacy will continue to inspire, motivate, and bring smiles to our faces for generations to come. Rest well, dear Cherry.
