Betty Jane Hess

Betty Jane Hess, of Cedar Park, TX, joined Heaven’s choir on October 1, 2025, at age 90. Betty was the devoted wife of Roger Joseph Hess for 32 years, until he preceded her in death in 1988.
Betty is survived by daughters, Jane Voelker, Nancy Hess, Laura Peterson (Jay), and son John Hess (Theresa Hauck). She was “Grammy” to Gloria Voelker, Zachary Voelker (Santanna Hill), Anna Lachowsky (Parker), Greta Peterson, Olivia Hess, Cole Hess, Madeline Hauck, and Trent Hauck. Betty was great great-grandmother to Adalyn Voelker and Louis Lachowsky.
On May 26, 1935, Betty was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to German-born parents, Mary Schack (Maria Anna Johanna Bomert) and Walter O. Schack. Betty graduated from Sheboygan’s Central High School, then worked as a secretary and model for H.C. Prange Co. In 1953, Betty was named Sheboygan’s Bratwurst Queen at the Annual Bratwurst Festival, and married Roger Hess in 1956.
A memorial service will be held in Wisconsin in spring 2026.
