Betty Dolores Burt (Schaller), age 96, a lifelong resident of Kenosha, passed away on May 14th, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 20th, 1928, to the late Alfred Schaller and Marsella (Boylen). On August 15th, 1950, she married Joseph Burt in Waukegan, Illinois. They later made their home in Kenosha and had 4 beautiful children together. Betty worked at Simmons Mattress Company as a comptometer operator for many years and later worked for Kenosha Unified School District in the lunch program.
She was previously a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and was later active at both St. Marks Catholic and St. Therese Catholic, still receiving Holy Communion every week until her passing. She deeply loved her family and loved spending time with them, especially around the holidays. In her free time, she loved to knit, crochet, and play her favorite dice game, ten thousand.
She is survived by her children: Wade (Christine) Burt, Steve (Sue) Burt, Theresa Huth, and Kevin Burt, grandchildren: Lisa (Joe) Morelli, Jessica McKay, Justa Adcock, Joe Burt, great grandchildren: Naomi McKay Austin Short, and Ryan Short and sister: Jeanette (Gene) Merten. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Joseph Burt (2015), sister: Margaret (John) Grueter, brother: Alfred (Mary) Schaller Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church (2020 91st St.) on Thursday May 22nd, 2025, at 11 A.M. A visitation will also take place at church from 10 A.M. until the time of Mass. Inurnment at St. George Catholic Cemetery in Kenosha will follow the services at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance in Betty’s name are appreciated.
