Allen Gene Simons, 89, of Kenosha, WI, a beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025, in his home in Kenosha, WI surrounded by his family after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Allen was born August 31, 1935, in Kenosha, WI to Peggy and Henry Simons. As a young man he served in the National Guard and later worked at American Motors as a janitor. He retired from American Motors in 1989 and spent his retirement on the golf course, listening to Johnny Cash and spending time with his family.
In 1954, he met the love of his life, Joan Flesch. They were married September 8, 1956, and enjoyed 68 blissful years of marriage, full of raising two daughters, Debbie and Coleen, traveling to Florida for family vacations and trips to California to golf and see family.
Allen was a member of The Moose Lodge, the Happy Hour Club and part of the Fearsome Foursome at Bill’s Corner Club. He played countless rounds of golf, winning many trophies and achieving a hole in one.
Allen was above all passionate and proud of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His most cherished memories are family gatherings at his house with everyone there. He used to say, he never wanted gifts for any holidays or birthdays, just his family at his house. Although he did wonder where “his” potato chips, chocolate, and Chuck Norris calendar were in the gift pile. He also enjoyed his favorite meals and shared off his plate along with a Hershey Bar.
Allen was a man of his faith – regularly praying to St. Jude, praying for his family and serving as a Godfather for his grandsons, Sheldon & Scott, and great granddaughter, Olivia. He also spent many years on the golf course with Joan, his circle of friends, teaching his grandkids how to golf, and playing Old Maid.
Allen was a lifelong Cubs and Packer fan. He could be found many days in front of the TV cheering on his teams, and he always knew the latest rankings and sports statistics for almost any sport. One of the greatest days of his life will be the day the Cubs won the World Series. He was also a force to be reckoned with when it came to poker, a visit to his house was never complete without a game of cards.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joan Simons; his two beautiful daughters, Deborah (Mark) Ratzburg and Coleen (Gary) Grant; seven grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Ratzburg, Daniel Ratzburg, Scott (Anika) Ratzburg, Brittany (Ryan) Willie, Sheldon Grant, Aubree Grant, and Douglas Grant and seven great-grandchildren, Makena Ratzburg, Olivia Ratzburg, Caden Willie, Kolton Willie, Benjamin Ratzburg, Finlei Willie, and Thomas Ratzburg.
Allen was preceded in death by his father, Henry; mother, Peggy; brother, Harry; sister, Cindy, and his great-granddaughter, Uli Ratzburg.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 2020 91st St.
Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
