Downtown Kenosha will turn into a winter wonderland on Jan. 24, with more than 40 unique ice sculptures on display. The Snow Daze Festival returns for its 12th year. Snow Daze is presented by the City of Kenosha and Visit Kenosha with support from area businesses and the Lakeshore Business Improvement District.
Ice artists from Art Below Zero in Franksville will create a one-of-a-kind ice sculpture beginning at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 5220 Sixth Ave. Stroll around the park to view additional ice sculptures sponsored by Snap-on, Inc., Blackhawk Community Credit Union, Visit Kenosha, and other local businesses and organizations. More ice sculptures are also on display in front of downtown businesses. Shop and browse while you are there for their Snow Daze specials and promotions. Ice sculptures will remain up as long as the weather permits. A list of participating businesses is posted at VisitKenosha.com.
Midwest DJ Productions will add fun and music to the event. Meanwhile, Zeigler Hyundai will sponsor free kits for s’mores at the park beginning at 1 p.m. until supplies run out. People may use the fire pits set up near the Veterans Memorial fountain at the park to toast marshmallows for the s’mores. Additional treats are available for purchase from vendors.
Winter fun continues with an opportunity to take a spin on the city’s ice rink at Veterans Memorial Park. Free skate check-outs are available between the hours of 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Jan. 24. Also, cap off Snow Daze with a free ride on the city streetcar operating from 10:35 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Free event parking is available downtown, including at the city parking garage at Eighth Avenue and 56th Street.
