The United Way of Kenosha County, Kenosha YMCA, and BCU are proud to announce the outstanding results of the “Every Child Warm in the Winter” cold-weather clothing drive. Together, partners and community members collected 404 winter clothing items, including coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and more, for students at Frank Elementary. This collaborative effort ensures students are prepared to stay warm, healthy, and ready to learn throughout the winter months.
“We are incredibly grateful to our community partners and every donor for the impact they are making at Frank,” said KUSD Superintendent Dr. Jeff Weiss. “Knowing that our students will arrive at school warm and better prepared thanks to their kindness and generosity is extremely heartwarming.”
The initiative accepted donations of new and gently used winter gear for the more than 400 students in grades 4K through 5th grade at Frank Elementary School. Thanks to the generosity of individuals in our community, students now have access to essential cold-weather items.
“This initiative is an important reminder of what can be accomplished when we are united in purpose,” said United Way of Kenosha County CEO Carolynn Friesch. “Because of our community’s response, hundreds of students at Frank Elementary School will be warm, confident, and ready to learn all winter long.”
“It truly is a testament of the care that Kenosha has for its children,” said Kenosha YMCA Education and Community Impact Director Dr. M. Rachel Mall. “At times, each of us wonders what difference our lives make, and we become concerned that we have not offered some great and wondrous accomplishment. Giving to those in need, especially to children, to ease their struggle – what greater accomplishment could there be? And when we do so together, each blessing of giving magnifies and illuminates the world in a radiance of care that can change the world for all.”
“BCU is proud to support families right here in Kenosha,” said Brandon Ewing, Director of Community Retail Branches. “Through this partnership, we’re helping ensure local students have the resources they need to learn and thrive this winter.”
The United Way of Kenosha County, the Kenosha YMCA, BCU, and Kenosha Unified extend their gratitude to every donor and volunteer who contributed to the success of this year’s initiative.
