County Executive Samantha Kerkman and Kenosha County Parks will host the third-annual tree lighting ceremony at Petrifying Springs Park on Saturday, Nov. 29.

The day’s festivities will begin at 11 a.m., when the Petrifying Springs Biergarten opens for the day, offering German Glühwein, beer, and hot cocoa. Hot food and beverages will also be available from food trucks.

At 3 p.m., the Tree Lighting Ceremony will officially begin with free biodegradable ornament decorating and a visit by live reindeer.

From 3 to 6 p.m., families are invited to line up for free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. A professional photographer will be on site to capture the moment, and each family will receive access to a free digital photo.

At 5 p.m., Kerkman will lead the crowd in a countdown to light the park’s Christmas tree.

“We’re excited to return with what’s quickly become a tradition in Kenosha County,” Kerkman said. “I look forward to ringing in the season and enjoying some Christmas cheer in Petrifying Springs on Nov. 29 and throughout the holidays.”

In addition to the main tree lighting, visitors can explore trees decorated by various Kenosha County departments, each uniquely themed after a Christmas movie.
This event is free and open to the public and will be located in and around the Biergarten on the south end of Petrifying Springs Park, near the Highway JR entrance.
