Shalom Center receives donation from UAW Local 72

UAW Local 72 donates $25,000 to Shalom Center

By Shalom Center

Shalom Center is a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, and food pantry serving Kenosha for over 40 years.

The Regular Membership and the Retired Workers Chapter of UAW Local 72 donated $25,000 to the Shalom Center. This donation is especially needed currently since many Kenosha citizens face financial hardships due to economic uncertainty, inflation, and lack of affordable housing.

“We want to offer a heartfelt thank you to Local 72 for their donation to Shalom Center. Their continued commitment to the Kenosha community is really a testament to what the UAW Local 72 stands for. We also appreciate their belief in Shalom Center as a lifeline for many of the citizens in Kenosha,” said Esther Roberts, Executive Director of Shalom Center.

The donation will be used to further help the Kenosha community in the Shalom Center Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen, Homeless Shelter, and Community Center.

“Times are tough for many of the citizens of the Kenosha area. We see the need in our community and the country. Many people are struggling to feed their families, and we wanted to help in some small way. The membership of UAW Local 72 has always felt that we have a moral conscience and a responsibility to help wherever we can lift those up that struggle with the inequalities of this country. That is why we have chosen to donate to the Shalom Center,” said Curt Wilson, UAW Local 72 Retiree Chapter Chair.
