October is packed with excitement at Blue House Books! From thrilling author meet & greets to spooky storytimes and a community fundraiser, there’s something for every reader and family to enjoy this month.

Fundraiser for Safe Families for Children of Racine and Kenosha

On Saturday, October 18th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., support a great cause while you shop! Mention the code word “Families” in-store or online, and 15% of your purchase will be donated to Safe Families for Children of Racine and Kenosha. Help us give back to our community and spread the word!

Banned Book Club

Welcome to the Banned Book Club, where we believe in the freedom to read!

In October, we are discussing Different Seasons by Stephen King. Grab your copy from Blue House Books and mention our Book Club at checkout for 10% off; go to Libro.fm for audio; go to Bookshop.org for ebook, or grab it from your local library! The Blue House Books Banned Book Club meets the third Sunday of every month at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 19th at Blue House Books, 5915 6th Ave A. Please RSVP if you plan to attend, and if you can’t make it, let us know so we can open the spot for someone else. You can also tune into the live stream on Facebook and leave your comments there!

Spooky Story Time

Get into the Halloween spirit on Tuesday, October 28th at 4:30 p.m.! Kids aged 4–7 (and their grown-ups!) are invited to come dressed as monsters, superheroes, or princesses to hear a spooky story read by Maleficent, followed by crafts, drinks, and treats. Tickets are $5 per participant for activities and refreshments; adults who aren’t participating don’t need a ticket. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP with your group size.

Blue House Book Club

Welcome to the Blue House Book Club! The October book club selection is We Live Here Now by Sarah Pinborough.

You can grab your copy from Blue House Books, Libro.fm for audio, Bookshop.org for ebook, or grab it from your local library! We will be offering two editions: one with sprayed edges and one without—both have the same content, but the sprayed edition has a slight price increase. Both copies receive 10% off when you mention the Book Club at checkout. The Blue House Book Club meets the last Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, October 28th. Please RSVP if you plan to attend, and if your plans change, let us know so we can open the spot for someone else. The live stream on Facebook is also available for comments and discussion!
