Congratulations to Manny Rios, a 2025 Kenosha Tremper High School graduate, for receiving a Lifestyle Change Award at Saturday’s Milwaukee American Heart Association’s Southeastern Wisconsin Heart and Stroke Walk at Henry Maier Festival Park. The award, sponsored by the American Heart Association and Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, recognizes “individuals who have made or have encouraged someone to make positive changes to improve the quality of their life and health.” WISN 12 News anchor Mallory Anderson, who was this year’s Heart and Stroke Walk emcee, presented the award to Manny and his mother, Anna, during the program at the Briggs and Stratton Stage. Manny, who had open-heart surgery at just 3 days old and a heart transplant at 10, was the Association’s featured Heart Warrior at the 2019 Heart and Stroke Walk. He and his mom have been fixtures as key volunteers at American Heart Association events for the last several years, including Manny’s efforts with the “Bring a Ball to the Ball” program every February.
